Trade Deadline day in Washington

The Caps GM George McPhee went in to today infamous for making last minute moves on the final day of the trade deadline. The first move to make was for Florida defenseman Dennis Wideman. The Caps traded prospect Jake Hauswirth and a 2011 3rd round draft pick. This was a very favorable trade for the Capitals bringing another right-handed, offensive defenseman to Washington.

In the final moments of the 3pm deadline McPhee made one final deal to complete his day. The Washington Capitals traded center David Steckel to the New Jersey Devils for Jason Arnott. Yes Arnott has experience, a Stanley Cup, and size, but in my opinion we did not need to fork over the leading faceoff guy in the league for him. We might get to see all three new additions Wideman, Arnott, and Sturm on Tuesday night vs. the Islanders. David Steckel you will be missed!
