Alexander Ovechkin and Mike Green were named to the 2011 NHL All-Star team today.
This will be Greener’s first appearance in the midseason event in his career, even though he has been a dominant defenseman in the Eastern Conference for several seasons. He has eight goals and 12 assists this year.
Ovi will be participating in his fourth All-Star Weekend. The Great 8 has 15 goals and 29 assists so far.
Alexander Semin was snubbed as he is tied for 11th most goals in the league at 18. Semin was trying to drum up some votes from the fans, but his recent goalless skid most likely led to his being left off the roster.
